Re: 'Barney'

Dear Andy and Sue,

I hope you are all keeping well.

At last I have managed to sort out a few shots of Barney as he begins to learn about ‘Agility’.

These are all taken around our nursery, including the one in his ‘play room’ on the toy see-saw under the watchful eye of Aunty Poppy.

He will be going to ‘Big School’ in 3 or 4 weeks time when he will be old enough to train with the ‘Big Boys’ at the agility club.

You can see that he’s off to a flying start when I tell you that there was no-one else present when I took these shots.— He was taking these obstacles on command, whilst I worked the camera. Believe me, that wouldn’t be all that easy even with an older well trained dog. He is very quick to learn and very enthusiastic.

I introduced him to the ‘Tyre’ at the beginning of last week. (It’s suspended for them to jump through).

Part of the training involves obstacle recognition, where the dog has to remember the names of the obstacles and complete them on command. Today whilst we were in the middle of about 15 different obstacle I said: " Where’s your tyre?". – No hesitation. He ran straight away and hopped through it!!

What a clever Boy!!

Before I go I must just tell you that he is now just about touching the bar at 17 inches at the withers.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he won’t get any taller, or he will be classed as ‘large dog’ and would have to jump 65cm bars. As I wouldn’t want to subject him to too much of that, I probably wouldn’t run him in big competitions. We would still have bags of fun at the club though, as we can carry on training and fun classes at medium height. (45cm).

It’s my best guess that he will just stay under the 17 inch mark.—Let’s hope so?

Will be in touch again soon.

All the Best,

Stuart

Re: 'Tilly'

Dear Sue and Andy

Just a short note to let you see how Tilly is doing. She sleeps on her blanket at the bottom of the bed! She whimpers at about five in the morning because she is not brave enough to go outside on her own when it is dark. She has a wee and settles back for a couple of hours. She has been to the beach a few times and is getting used to the car. You open the door and she jumps in.

She has had a few accidents but on the whole she is very good. She has completely taken over, and our lives revolve around her.

The garden is large and she runs around chasing the grouse and the pheasant, who are frequent visitors.

She has had nothing except her food and the odd treat, a healthy one of course.

I have increased the amount, as she is getting bigger.

Well I will go now. The offer to come and stay here in Jersey is still there, anytime!

Love to you both.

Shannie, Charlie and Tilly.xxx

P.S She still cuddles up to the teddy bear and has taken a liking to my beige fleece. I'm sure they remind her of mum and dad.xxx
