Children and cockapoo puppies are an unbeatable combination, however very young children and young puppies need to be supervised when together as the children will not be able to resist the puppy and the puppy will not be able to resist jumping all over the children.

It is important to teach young children the proper way to handle a young puppy, very young children should not be allowed to pick up the puppy whilst standing as there is a likelyhood of them dropping the puppy and this could result in a potentially serious injury, it is best that they interact with the puppy on ground level.

 Also when the children are playing with the puppy do be aware that before the puppy has changed its baby teeth its teeth are very "SHARP" and when the children and puppy are playing games like tug -of -war do be aware that too much of this type of play can cause incorrect growth of the puppys' teeth.

Do encourage fetching games this is very helpful for the puppys' understanding that if you take something away they will get it back if they first retrieve it

Wrestling with the puppy needs to be kept GENTLE, as far as the puppy is concerned the children are litter mates and the level of play amongst litter mates can be quite ferocious, so do not ever allow play biting behaviour to begin even though it is cute in a puppy, those jaw muscles and other muscles only get stronger.

One last piece of advice do not over do it, both children and puppies need down time, when the puppy is tired do not let the children force the issue.
